She Caught One!!

Last weekend, Matt took Grace fishing again. Only this time they had a much better outcome and caught a fish!! Not only did she catch a fish, but she caught one on his first cast! It was a "biggin" and we thought about mounting it on the wall next to Matt's! Check it out!!

First Smiles!!!

Anna Kate has really started smiling and cooing over the last week. She definitely recognizes our faces now and it is SO sweet to see her responding to us!! Yesterday, Grace was sitting next to her and Anna Kate started having her own little conversation with her! It was too cute! And after just one week of this, I can already tell I'm going to have another talker on my hands!! :) I captured a couple smiles on camera and even a short video. It's not the best but I thought I'd go ahead and pass it along. Oh and it appears that she is about to be choked by her bib. Don't worry......it's just a VERY puffy bib! Enjoy!

Labor Day Weekend

We had a great Labor Day weekend! On Saturday, we took a trip to the zoo. This was our first visit of the summer since it's been SOOO hot!! It was a perfect day for it.......79 degrees and sunny! Ahhhhh I can almost smell fall making its appearance!!

Grace was the most excited to see the lions. Unfortunately, the lion was sleeping behind a tree so she only got a little peek. We saw monkeys, a gorilla, giraffe, elephants, rhino, camels, etc. Grace kept asking to see a spider (weird I know). We never found one and luckily she forgot about it by the time we got hungry. We headed to the canteen and placed our order when it happened........Anna got hungry too!! Oh dear! You see I never breastfed Grace in public. If we were out and about, I fed her in the car. But we mostly tried to make it home where we were in our comfortable surroundings. Not today people! I knew it would eventually happen......but VERY sweaty just thinking about it. Luckily, there were two rocking chairs up against the building that were partially hidden from the crowd and we ate a little late so there weren't too many people around. Let's just say that I got the mission accomplished without exposing myself to the ENTIRE zoo! WAHAHA! Still it's not something I look forward to doing again anytime soon!

Saturday night we had some neighbors over for a cookout. We've both had very busy summers and this cookout was long overdue. We have the best neighbors you can ask for, and we were happy we got to catch up!!

We had a low-key day on Sunday and got some things done around the house in the morning. That evening we decided to roast some hot dogs and shrimp over our little fire pit in the backyard. Grace got into it and actually ate some of her hot dog. She loves being outside! Now that it's not 127 degrees, we can finally enjoy more time out playing.
We headed to the park on Monday where Matt and Grace did a WHOLE LOT of swinging and playing in the water and I got to squeeze in a nice walk. Grace is eating up all this daddy time! Grace and Matt have had tons of one-on-one time together while I'm feeding and taking care of Anna. Every morning, the first thing she asks is, "Where's daddy?" Too cute! I hope I don't become chopped liver quite yet! :)
Grace also had a BIG first over the weekend. She has made HUGE strides in the potty training department. She had a poop strike that lasted well over 6 weeks! She was doing great and then completely stopped cold turkey! We tried what seemed like hundreds of different approaches to get her to do it again, and Matt finally got one to work! That was a few weeks ago. I am happy to report that not only is she doing it consistently, but she's telling us every time she needs to go! HOORAY!! She also started consistently waking up with a dry pull-up. On Monday, she took a nap for the first time in her panties and didn't have an accident! WHO HOO!! Good job kiddo! Now let's just keep our fingers crossed that we she keeps it up and we can soon move on to no pull-ups at all!!

First Day of Preschool!!

Well she's officially a "big girl!" Grace started preschool last Tuesday!! Sniff, sniff!! Our church offers a preschool program (Children's Enrichment Program) and we signed Grace up for Tuesdays/Thursdays this year. Her day lasts from 9:30am - 2:30pm which is a long time to be away from momma! She has 4 other kids in her classroom (1 girl, 3 boys) and her teacher's name is Miss Karen. I knew Grace wouldn't have any problems during the drop-off since she is Miss Social and LOVES to play with "friends" and "new" toys! On her first day, she marched right into her classroom and started playing just as I had anticipated. She didn't even flinch when Matt and I kissed her goodbye! We just heard, "OK see ya' later!"

The only challenge we both knew she would face was sleeping on her nap mat while in the classroom!! And, as it turns out, we were right! Can you really blame her though!! I don't think I could lay down with 4 other kids and take a nap surrounded by hundreds of fun toys!!
When I picked her up after her first day, she was COMPLETELY exhausted!! She didn't talk much about her day on the way home because she was fighting trying to stay awake. We headed to get a slushy to celebrate her first day of school. She fell asleep as we pulled into our garage but quickly woke up once I opened my door and she saw her slushy!! Her night came to an early end, and she was out like a light by 8pm.
I can't wait to hear about all the new things she'll learn and see all the projects she brings home! She's growing up way too fast!!

Golf Date!

Two weekends ago, Matt and Grace had a daddy/daughter golf date at The Knoxville Open. Matt was giddy he was so excited, and Grace acted excited as well. We watch quite a few golf tournaments at our house during the summer so she was a little familiar with what golf meant. I got her dressed like a little golfer (minus the shoes of course!) and off they went. We talked to Grace about how quiet she had to be when a golfer was about to make a shot. HAHAHAHA!! Most of you know that she talks 24/7 so I knew that would be interesting! :) John Daly was at the tournament and I was hoping Matt could get a good picture of him. Unfortunately, cameras weren't allowed in so these are the only pictures we have since Matt smuggled in his phone!

Matt and Grace met Devan and Jalen at the tournament. From what I understand, the picture above shows how interested Grace and Jalen were in the actual golfing!! Although, they both came away with a golf ball from one of the players!! They both had a fun morning and something tells me this will now be an annual event!!
