During the second weekend in December everyone was finally healthy and EXCITED to get our Christmas tree!! We tried out a new (well new to us) Christmas tree farm north of Knoxville. They had pre-cut firs, white pine, scotch pine, blue spruce, and leyland cyprus to cut yourself or with their help. I think we can be considered Christmas tree snobs given Matt's background, and we normally take a good 2-3 laps around before we make a decision. No Charlie Brown trees for us people. We like a good, full, GREEN, well manicured tree. I always lean towards the firs BUT we found a white pine that looked pretty darn good! Grace "helped" Matt cut it down and haul it off and we were on our way. This got Matt and I dreaming of having our own Christmas tree farm and how fun it could be! One day you all can come to our farm, walk through to pick out your perfect tree but not before grabbing a cup of hot chocolate or cider, bring your tree back to the barn to purchase via our decked out sleigh, get the kids picture taken with Santa in the little cabin off to the side, pet the live reindeer that we'll have on site, and even get a wreath and garland to get your house all decked out for the holidays!! Ahhhhhh a girl can dream, right!! Don't even get me started on my ideas for having pumpkins, mums, an apple orchard, etc. for the fall months!!
Grace requested colored lights on our tree this year and it turned out to be a good choice!! Doesn't a Christmas tree make your whole house feel different!?! Too bad you can't leave the tree up all year!!
Finally, here are a couple pictures of the girls helping decorate the tree. Aren't they cute!! We had a few branches at the bottom that had LOTS of ornaments this year! I told Grace to find a good spot after each ornament I gave her.........I guess she found a few GOOD SPOTS and stuck with them!!
